Bluewater Health Ends Visitor Restrictions

SARNIA & PETROLIA Bluewater Health has ended visitor restrictions on its Mental Health Inpatient unit in Sarnia as there have been no additional patients with gastrointestinal symptoms (diarrhea and vomiting).

“We would like to thank the healthcare team involved in managing care during the visitor restrictions,” says Helen Shaw,Manager, Infection Control. “Due to measures to protect staff and patients and enhanced cleaning efforts there have been no new patient cases since Sunday, December 11.

Public Health officials remind us that gastrointestinal illnesses are active in the community and it is important to remain vigilant. Everyone is asked to use hand sanitizer when entering and leaving the hospital. Please do not come to the hospital to visit loved ones if you are experiencing gastrointestinal symptoms.

Members of the community should continue to come to Bluewater Health for scheduled tests and procedures. Cancelling or delaying tests or procedures may put a patient at much more risk than coming into Bluewater Health when infection control measures are in place.
