Our Strategic Plan

Developing and monitoring an organization’s strategic plan, is one of the key responsibilities of a governing Board of Directors.

The strategic planning process at Bluewater Health is led by the Governance and Nominating Committee of the Board and is a highly consultative process, involving input and participation from the Board and its Committees, Community and Rural Health Advisory Panels, Foundations, staff, Professional Staff, volunteers, community health service providers and the public.

Bluewater Health’s 2009-2012 strategic plan mapped out a new Mission, Vision and Values, and five strategic themes.

In 2012, the Board of Directors along with internal and external stakeholders engaged in a process to identify the strategic priorities to guide the organization’s efforts through to 2015. The valuable input received during this process was instrumental in helping formulate the recommended strategic priorities (click here to view the input received). The Board endorsed the continuation of Bluewater Health’s existing five strategic themes (Quality Care; Inspired People; Outstanding Performance; Exceptional Relationships; and A Culture of Innovation), and confirmed the current Mission, Vision and Values (below). The Board approved the completed strategic plan at its March 2013 meeting and it was formally launched on April 29, 2013.

The plan includes eight corporate goals aligned with the five strategic priorities and is outlined in our Strategy for Accelerating Exemplary Healthcare Experiences, Every Time (click here to view our 2013-2015 Strategic Plan). Our Strategy Map illustrates, in one page, the initiatives we will undertake to achieve our goals and ultimately our Mission and Vision (click here to view our Strategy Map). The 2013-15 Strategic Plan presents a renewed focus on creating exemplary healthcare experiences, through continuous learning from the voices and perspectives of patients and families. This will be accomplished by embracing evidenced-informed, best practice and patient and family-centered care through technology, transformation and inspired people.

We are excited about our 2013-15 Strategic Plan as we believe that it builds upon our strengths and positions us to respond effectively to existing and anticipated challenges and opportunities. We invite our community to join us on our continued journey towards achieving our Vision: Exceptional Care - Exceptional People - Exceptional Relationships.

We welcome comments and suggestions to guide us as we move forward with the implementation of our plan. These can be forwarded to Christine Murphy, Special Projects Administrator, at cmurphy@bluewaterhealth.ca.
