Patients requiring cataract surgery are seen in the Pat Mailloux Eye Centre at Charlotte Eleanor Englehart Hospital of Bluewater Health in Petrolia. The procedures are performed by highly-skilled ophthalmologists practicing in Sarnia-Lambton, using state-of-the-art equipment and supported by highly-qualified personnel.
This is an outpatient clinic and patients can go home after their procedure. Cataract surgery may require anaesthesia, and a short recovery period is necessary which occurs in our day surgery department before discharge from the hospital.
You must have a friend or family member take you home after you are discharged, as it will take some time for your vision to adjust. You will receive instructions on your recovery period.
