
Louis Guimond
Louis was appointed to the Board of Directors of Bluewater Health in June 2016. He has served on all Sub-Committees of the Board and the Community and Rural Health Advisory Panels. Louis was appointed Treasurer of the Board and Chair of the Resource Utilization and Audit Committee in June 2020, and is currently a member of the Quality Committee.
Louis is the principal at Sagittaire, a private asset management firm and sits on the board of directors for a number of not for profit organisations. Prior to his current responsibilities, he was Director of Studies at the Canadian Coast Guard College in Sydney, Nova Scotia. As head of the institution’s Academic Council, he was responsible for the development, implementation and adherence of the organization’s training standards. He was a member of Cape Breton University Academic Senate.
During his 35 years with the Canadian Coast Guard, Louis sailed the three oceans bordering Canada aboard numerous Coast Guard vessels and held a number of marine management and national security positions in Ontario, the Maritimes and Ottawa. He was awarded the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal, the Coast Guard Exemplary Service Medal and a Commissioner Commendation for the Merit.
Louis studied Marine Engineering at the Canadian Coast Guard College, holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Marine Management, and an Honours Bachelor in Commerce. He is a member of the Chartered Professional Accountant of Ontario.
Louis and his extended family have adopted Sarnia as their new home since 2000. They cherish the warmth and spirit of the Bluewater community and are working hard to preserve its hometown welcoming feeling. They believe the greatest reward is to be of service.
