Bluewater Health Celebrates Doctors’ Day

Wednesday, May 1, 2019 - 3:53pm

SARNIA & PETROLIA – May 1, 2019 – Whether in a hospital, long-term care home, clinic or a patient’s home, Ontario’s doctors are committed to providing high-quality care. On Tuesday, May 1 – designated by the Ontario government as Doctors’ Day – Bluewater Health is encouraging the community to say thank you to the doctors who care for patients in Sarnia-Lambton. The date was selected to mark the birthday of Dr. Emily Stowe, Canada’s first female physician.

“As a physician myself, I know we care for patients at the most stressful – and the most miraculous – times of their lives,” says Dr. Mike Haddad, Chief of Staff. “We work tirelessly with other healthcare professionals to adhere to our oath to heal, alleviate suffering and address the fears and anxiety of our patients and families because nothing is more important to physicians than the well-being and health of their patients and their families. On behalf of Bluewater Health, I would like to thank our local physicians for their dedication to caring for our patients both in the community and at the hospital.”

Bluewater Health also supports the Ontario Medical Association’s campaign, which encourages Ontarians to recognize doctors by tweeting using the hashtag #DoctorsDay, or sharing a positive story or interaction they’ve had with their doctor, on the Ontario Medical Association’s website at

Bluewater Health recognizes local physicians at its annual service recognition ceremony and Bridging Excellence Awards in April, as well as at the annual Physician Appreciation Day in the fall. Patients and families will also have an opportunity to nominate their physician for a Patients’ Choice Award in late summer.

“Bluewater Health is a great place to learn and practice and Sarnia-Lambton is a fantastic community,” adds Dr. Haddad. “We continue to recruit more high-caliber physicians and specialists to Sarnia to join our already outstanding group of doctors.”
