Bluewater Health Declares Outbreak on Medicine Units

SARNIA & PETROLIA – February 19, 2021 – Bluewater Health, in consultation with Lambton Public Health, has declared a COVID-19 outbreak in the General Medicine / Acute Medicine unit in Sarnia.

The Bluewater Health Medicine units remain open for admissions with enhanced precautions, cleaning, and infection control in place to ensure no further transmission.

The province defines an outbreak in hospital as two or more linked positive cases of COVID-19 within a 14-day period. There needs to be evidence of transmission of the virus within a single unit. Declaring an outbreak allows additional measures to work toward preventing further transmission.
