Honoured by The Kidney Foundation of Canada, Sarnia-Lambton Chapter

SARNIA & PETROLIA – June 6, 2022 – The Bluewater Health Dialysis Team has once again been awarded the Susan Robbins Memorial Award by the Sarnia-Lambton Chapter of The Kidney Foundation of Canada. This award was last presented to Bluewater Health’s Dialysis Team in 2018.

Selected by the Sarnia-Lambton Chapter Board of Directors, this award recognizes those who are strong advocates for patients and caregivers and who support fundraising and volunteer initiatives.

“The Bluewater Health Dialysis team provided wonderful care support to patients throughout the uncertainty of the pandemic,” says Greg Robbins, husband to the late Susan Robbins and Board Member of the Kidney Foundation, Sarnia-Lambton Chapter. “Patients continued to require dialysis despite the pandemic, and were also more vulnerable to contracting serious COVID-19 illness. Local dialysis patients have been so fortunate and appreciative of the exemplary care provided during a very challenging last two years.”

The Dialysis Unit at Bluewater Health provides hemo-dialysis treatment for chronic renal failure for patients in Sarnia-Lambton and the surrounding area, and is a satellite of the Regional Renal Program at London Health Sciences Centre in London. A team of nephrologists and specialists in training (fellows) manage the medical care of dialysis patients along with a nurse practitioner.

“We are honoured and proud that the Sarnia-Lambton Chapter of The Kidney Foundation of Canada has once again presented our outstanding Dialysis Team with the Susan Robbins Memorial Award,” says Laurie Zimmer, Vice President of Clinical Services at Bluewater Health. “All of the staff working on our Dialysis Unit are highly skilled and dedicated to providing exemplary patient care, but are also committed to working with our community partners to improving life for patients.”
