Bluewater Health and Lambton Public Health Begin County-wide Campaign
SARNIA + PETROLIA – April 17, 2020 – Bluewater Health and Lambton Public Health are pleased to announce that within a few hours of the rollout of three new or enhanced COVID-19 assessment opportunities, a new program has started with much success. Specifically directed at those in long term care and retirement homes, testing has started in direct response to the Premier’s call-to-action on increasing testing in in these locations. Teams from the Sarnia site, and the mobile response Community Paramedic Program tested 272 people in two locations on Thursday April 16, 2020.
One day prior, the government announced an action plan and new emergency order to protect the most vulnerable in long-term care homes. A key strategy of the COVID-19 Action Plan is to prevent further outbreaks and deaths in long-term care home through aggressive testing, screening and surveillance.
There are 10 retirement residences and 10 long term care homes in Sarnia Lambton. Testing began in Landmark Village and Lambton Meadowview Villa as these two homes are currently in COVID-19 outbreak. Staff and residents are being tested. The remaining locations will be tested in a scheduled manner over the next few days.
