SARNIA & PETROLIA – March 21, 2019 – Patient and family feedback is critical to learning and quality improvement, and Bluewater Health is calling out to Sarnia-Lambton residents to share their stories in a new campaign called ‘Tell Us Your Story.’ Open, honest and constructive feedback provides the hospital with a gift to understand first-hand where it can do better.
“Patients’ stories of their own experiences can help staff understand when they did or did not meet patient and family expectations, and to reflect on the impact of patient and family-centred care,” says Lisa Hawthornthwaite, Patient Experience Specialist, Bluewater Health. “We’re asking people who have received care at Bluewater Health within the past two years, to share their stories with hospital staff and leaders to shape improvements and highlight successes.”
Patients choosing to contribute to this initiative will participate in a 30-minute ‘discovery interview’ that will lay the groundwork for an analysis captured on video. Each video will be edited and ultimately used (with the patient’s consent) in staff education. Those interested are invited to contact the Patient Experience Office by email at or phone at 519-464-4436.
Patient and their family members are encouraged to share feedback (which can include compliments and concerns) with any member of their healthcare team at any time.
