Many people benefit from physiotherapy, or physical therapy, following an injury, illness or disease. Physiotherapy can also improve quality of life by preventing injury and disability, managing chronic conditions and preventing re-occurrence.

Physiotherapists help patients improve their strength, balance and endurance leading to optimal confidence and independence in their daily lives, along with reduced length of hospital stay, readmissions to hospital and lower health care costs.

Bluewater Health’s full-time, part time and casual Physiotherapists and Rehabilitation Assistants support Acute Medicine, Emergency Department, Palliative Medicine, Cardiac Care, Intensive Care, Continuing Care, Inpatient Rehabilitation, Inpatient Surgery, Day Surgery and Maternal Infant Child. Physiotherapy is available to outpatients through the Community Reintegration Program (where focus is on continuing rehabilitation after hospital admission or loss of function from acute or chronic conditions) and after surgery such as hip fracture repair or joint replacement.

A signed doctor's referral form is required for all physiotherapy assessments and treatment within the hospital.
