The Secondary Stroke Prevention Clinic is an outpatient clinic for people who have experienced signs and symptoms suggestive of a recent stroke or transient ischemic attack (TIA). The clinic provides rapid access to experts in stroke and offers in-person appointments at the hospital, as well as, virtual appointments, including, over the phone and web-based video options. The purpose of the clinic is to investigate the cause of the suspected stroke or TIA.
The goal of the clinic is to prevent a future stroke or TIA by providing:
- Early assessments and appropriate interventions
- Rapid access to diagnostic tests
- Education to patients and family members on stroke prevention and managing risks

Patients need a referral from their primary care provider or the emergency department to access this service.
